While Barbecue tradition in Texas is unique in its own way and loved by many. But to add some twist to the traditional Texas BBQ, Pitmaster Esaul Ramos combines Mexican flavors to old barbecuing style in his restaurant, 2M Smokehouse. The result is absolutely amazing. That’s why people don’t mind waiting for hours in a long queue for their order.
Trust us the BBQ served here is worth your every minute and every dollar that you’d pay for it. You’ll see pitmaster Ramos preparing dishes along with his small crew, working hard to give their customers the best food.
Here’s what you’ll find in the menu: brisket, pulled pork, turkey, and pork spare ribs, $9-$10 half-pound; 2 meat plates with two sides, $15; sausage, $5.50 a link; tacos, 2 for $8; sandwiches, $8-$10; tres leches cake, $7; and sides, $3.
According to Ramos, his food is not completely Mexican but contains only a touch of Mexican flavors. For instance, the smokehouse’s staple sausage includes Oaxacan cheese.
Smokehouse’s special barbacoa is available only on the first Sunday of every month. Now the next month seems too far, but the dish is definitely worth the wait. You’d not resist licking your fingers while having the tasty meal.
In the beginning, Ramos found himself surrounded by traditional Texas BBQ restaurants but was never afraid of experimenting with his own style of barbecue.
His barbacoa celebrates both Mexican and Texas flavors, without concealing or overlapping each others’ taste. This is one recipe that helps the pitmaster to reveal the influences that he has grew up with. The heritage of central Texas remains with him through his recipes.
The 2M smokehouse is open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
