After the tough years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the popular Que the Creek – BBQ Festival is Back in 2023 at Kellogg Arena. Held on February 4 (last Saturday), the festival returned to Battle Creek with competition among local food vendors for winning the title of serving the best BBQ in town.
The festival started at 3 p.m. and lasted till 7 p.m. The fest was organized by Penetrator Events, the Battle Creek Small Business Development Office, and Kellogg Arena. During this event, the visitors witnessed the return of 2020 winners BlackMarket Smokehouse, Finley’s Smokehouse and Grill, and Island Style BBQ. Meanwhile, Redline BBQ Smokehouse, On the Roll Food Truck, and Umami Ramen also were part of this fund barbecue festival.

Apart from tasty smoky food options, the visitors enjoyed some yard games. Some BBQ-related vendors also sold their products, like smoked cheese, barbecue sauces, custom BBQ grills, etc. Plus mixologists Jen Will, Joshua Cronk, and Chris Fuld also prepared amazing cocktails for the guests. And, for music, there were amazing performances by Sam Luna Chris Canas and Jake Kershaw.
While this event took place after the pandemic, the event organizers took good care of maintaining the necessary social distancing protocols. They arranged tables and food/beverage lines with proper spaces for social distancing. The area seating was also open to letting people easily spread out.
Overall, it turned out to be a hit festival – as several people showed up at the event. Even the barbecue grillmasters were quite happy to make delicious recipes for BBQ enthusiasts.
